In August, 84 US military personnel died in Iraq -- a respite from May's 126 (the bloodiest month of 2007 and the third bloodiest month since the US invaded Iraq in March 2003). Each month of 2007, more US military have died in Iraq than in the same month in 2006. In fact, there are only three months out of the 46 prior to 2007 that have more deaths.
We're only two-thirds of the way through the year, and 2007 deaths are 90 percent of 2006.
