Jun 14 2007
In the third GOP presidential debate, the moderator, CNN's Wolf Blitzer, asked the candidates if they supported a pardon for former Cheney aide Scooter Libby. This is a summary of their responses; see the transcript (pdf) for details.

BLITZER: Do you think it would be appropriate for President Bush to pardon Lewis Scooter Libby, who was sentenced today to 30 months in prison for his role in the CIA leak case?
  • Brownback - yes
  • Gilmore - no
  • Giuliani - answered, but did not answer the question; when pressed, he seemed to be supportive of a pardon.
  • Huckabee - not without reading the transcript
  • Hunter - answered, but did not answer the question; later said not without reading the transcript.
  • McCain - wait on appeal process
  • Romney - answered, but did not answer the question; when pressed, he said "It’s worth looking at."
  • Tancredo - yes
  • Thompson - after the appeal, examine the record
