Mainstream media rarely provide context for the poll results of the day.
We've done just that for approval ratings for President Bush using trend data from the Washington Post and USA Today/Gallup.
Examining these data can help put the "headline of the day" into context.
In this chart, only one data point per month has been picked for Gallup, which polls 2-4 times per month. I added Gallup because the Washington Post has lengthened the time between polls since I started this project in July 2004. Data go back to January 2001.
In addition, we're sharing approval rating data from other sources. One, from Steve Ruggles (University of Minnesota), aggregates 13 different sources and provides a 14-day running average.
