2004 Events

21 January 2004
A grand jury began hearing testimony in the investigation of who leaked the identity of CIA operative Valerie Plame.

22 January 2004
Ten former CIA officers ask House leadership for a congressional investigation of the leak.

26 May 2004
The NYT performs a mea culpa, noting that many of its articles leading up to the Iraqi war were not "as rigorous" as they should have been; Miller authored or co-authored many of the cited articles.

3 June 2004 :
News reports note that Bush has consulted lawyer Jim Sharp, a former assistant US attorney, about the investigation.

16 June 2004 :
Secretary of State Colin Powell testifies before the grand jury.

23 June 2004 :
Fitzgerald questions Bush.

31 August 2004:
Rove to CNN:
"I'll repeat what I said to ABC News when this whole thing broke some number of months ago. I didn't know her name. I didn't leak her name."

14 September 2004 :
Editor & Publisher on Robert Novak, who outed Valerie Plame and continues to refuse to reveal the White House source used for his column.

14 October 2004 :
Karl Rove testifies for two hours before the federal grand jury.

2005 Events

15 February 2005:
The Supreme Court refuses to hear Judith Miller (New York Times) and Matt Cooper (Time) as they seek to avoid testifying before the grand jury.

27 June 2005:
The Supreme Court refuses to hear Judith Miller (New York Times) and Matt Cooper (Time) as they seek to avoid testifying before the grand jury.

30 June 2005:
Time agrees to give the grand jury Matt Cooper's notes.

6 July 2005:
Time's Cooper is released by his source; the New York Time's Miller is sent to jail.

10 July 2005:
Karl Rove confirms he spoke with Time's Matt Cooper about "Wilson's wife."

25 July 2005:

4 August 2005:
Robert Novak storms off the CNN set before being questioned about his role in PlameGate.

30 September 2005:
Judith Miller testifies before the grand jury.

2 October 2005:
ABC's George Stephanopolous says: "a source close to [the investigation] told me this week that President Bush and Vice President Cheney were actually involved in some of these discussions" about Valerie Plame.

28 October 2005:
Scheduled date for grand jury to expire.

19 November 2005:
Fitzgerald Calls for New Grand Jury; Ex-CIA Urge No Pardons; Woodward Fallout Continues
