Same-Sex Marriage in Political Spotlight; Senate Says No
7 June 2006. The rhetoric in the Senate has reached a fever pitch as it prepares to vote on a constitutional amendment, proposed by Sen. Wayne Allard (R-CO), which would ban same-sex marriage. Allard asserts, "Make no mistake about it, traditional marriage is under assault." Nevertheless, the Senate Just Said No to voting on the resolution.

9 November 2004. White House strategist Karl Rove reportedly said that President Bush will use his "political capital" to push for a constitutional amendment banning same-sex marriage.
News: Judge Rules For Same-Sex Marriage
15 March 2005. In a tentative decision, a San Francisco Superior Court Judge has ruled in favor of same-sex marriage, validating the mayor's action a year ago. The judge relied on case law dealing with historical rejection of laws that are "separate but equal."
News: California Court Overrules Same-Sex Marriage
12 August 2004. California Supreme Court ruled Thursday that San Francisco government officials "exceeded their authority by taking official action in violation of applicable statutory provisions" when they legalized same-sex marriages earlier this year.
