Bud Cummins served as US Attorney for the Eastern District of Arkansas from 2001 to 2006. He had the misfortune to be serving in a state that will be high-profile for the next year or so due to Hillary Clinton's run for the White House. Department of Justice officials conceded in March what many of us saw "in between the lines" in February: Cummins was fired to make way for a Karl Rove wannabe.
In testimony to the Senate Judiciary Committee last week, [Deputy Attorney General Paul McNulty] conceded that H.E. "Bud" Cummins, the former U.S. attorney in Arkansas, wasn't fired because of how he handled his job. Rather, McNulty said, administration officials wanted to make room for Timothy Griffin, a former aide of presidential adviser Karl Rove.
